Career Fair
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office sponsored their first annual Criminal Justice Career Fair on
September 23, 2009. The event was a huge success with nearly 30 agencies and colleges on hand
to offer opportunities in the field of criminal justice.
Over 500 people attended the one-day event at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI. In addition
to watching the numerous demonstrations put on throughout the day, attendees were able to speak with
recruiters from criminal justice agencies throughout the state. The event offered a wide array of
opportunities for both sworn and civilian careers.
The 2010 Criminal Justice Fair was also a great success and we are looking forward to the 2011 fair.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office is hosting the 3rd annual Criminal Justice Career Fair on Wednesday September 21, 2011,
from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in the Exhibition Hall of the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. We would like to extend an invitation to your
agency to participate in this event. This is a great opportunity to recruit quality applicants and to enhance public relations while assisting
attendees with exploring possible career options in the criminal justice field.
Last years event drew over 400 attendees and received very favorable feedback from the agencies
represented. We again intend on marketing the fair on line, at local colleges and schools, business,
newspapers and many local community publications including UMOJA, Asian Wisconzine, Madison Times,
Capital City Hues, La Cummunidad and Brava.
We will have over 50 booths available for Criminal Justice and related agencies. The registration fee
is $100.00 which includes one 8' x 10' space, one 8' skirted table, two chairs and a brief overview in
the fair guide publication. Electrical connections (1000-watt) are available for an additional $50.00.
At the Career Fair, attendees will receive a Career Fair Guide of participating employers with a brief
overview of the employers and the schedule of events. This year, each employer will have the opportunity
to purchase a full page ad in the Career Fair Guide for $100.00 and be listed as a co-sponsor for the
event on posters, flyers and in the guides. To allow ample advertising and printing time the registration
deadline for agencies interested in co-sponsoring will be July 29th. Our general registration deadline for
the Career Fair will be September 9, 2011.

We are scheduling a variety of law enforcement related demonstrations (EOD, K-9, CSU, etc.) You are
welcome to put together a demonstration which we can include in the published schedule of events
available in the career fair guidebook. Please let us know by the co-sponsor deadline of July 29th so
we can include your demonstration in the guide book.

If your agency is unable to attend but would like to provide handout information we can add it to the
free-will pick up booth at the fair.

The fair will be free to the public with no charge for parking.
