Salary and Benefits

The starting wage for Sheriff Aide, as of the 2010 contract, is $17.48 per hour with further merit increases to $18.93 per hour. There are longevity increases of 3% to 12% of base pay. In addition, there are health, dental and life insurance plans available. Sheriff’s Aides are given two weeks of paid vacation time after completion of a 6 month probationary period. Additionally they earn ten paid Holidays and they are eligible to earn compensatory time. The Sheriff’s Aides are members of the Wisconsin State Retirement plan and are AFSME union.
