Employment Standards
Education and Experience: High school graduation or its equivalency, and two years of either full-time
work, college/vocational training or military experience.
Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to operate standard office machines, computer equipment and various
software programs; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with inmates, staff and the public;
ability to read and understand moderately complex instructions, such as guidelines, regulations, and policies;
ability to apply written instructions such as guidelines, regulations, and policies to a variety of situations;
ability to give verbal explanation of applicable guidelines, regulations and policies; ability to use simple
arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers; ability to interpret requirements to the general
public; ability to extract information through oral questioning; ability to recognize conflicting statements
that indicate possible inmate rule violations.
Special Requirement: Must be able to work a rotating six days on, two days off schedule and be able
to work evenings, nights, and weekends as required by the schedule. Must be able to maintain safety and
security associated with working in a correctional facility. The incumbent will initially undergo an intensive
training period which will give the individual the capability of performing the full range of duties at the
objective level at the completion of the training.
